“Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” —Revelation 2:5 NIV The most powerful witness you can give the world is your personal testimony and how you live it. When you share what God has done in your life and how He changed you, you are the world’s best authority on your life and can speak with confidence.

It is good to remember from where we came. Do you remember when we thought we were at the height of our games? We had it together; we could handle life just fine. We didn’t need God. After all, He’s a crutch! You bet He’s a crutch. He’s the ambulance that saved our lives.

Once you’ve been a Christian awhile and you know your sins are forgiven and you have more or less figured out how you should live, it’s easy to forget. To forget that we are all sinners, and if our sins are not so obvious to the world, they still deceive our hearts through pride, deceit, or self-delusion. It is also easy to forget how much God loves us and wants to bless us.

Jesus reminds us that it’s good to stop once in awhile and remember what He did for us, and to go back to the first works we did when we first were saved: to love Him with all our hearts, minds, and souls.
